Home Remedies for Bronchitis

Spicy Foods (hot)

If you enjoy spicy foods, an effective remedy to your persistent coughing and congested airways may be hiding in your kitchen shelf or on the counter. Spicy foods like hot mustard, horseradish, and wasabi may help soften mucus in the bronchioles and improve symptoms of this condition. However, this option is not ideal for persons that are allergic to some or all of these spicy foods. Hot chili peppers and cayenne contain capsaicin [4], a chemical compound that inhibits the function of the mucus membranes by thinning out phlegm and relieving congestion. Green chili pepper, otherwise called jalapeno will help soothe your stomach and clear your sinuses. Many of these spicy foods like cayenne help improve blood circulation, enhancing the effectiveness of additional treatments.
