Sudden or unexplained weight loss occurs when an individual loses about 10 pounds or more. It is the loss of 5 percent of body weight within 6 to 12 without making a deliberate or consistent effort to do. This is most times a call for concern as it could indicate an underlying medical condition. Since this is an unintentional effort to lose body weight, it is a symptom that should be paid keen attention to.
