Crohn’s Disease Food Tips – Foods To Eat & Avoid

Certain proteins, meat, grains & dairy

Avoid high-fat proteins [10]. These can irritate your gut and cause gas. Some high-fat proteins to avoid include fried eggs, beans, peas, fried meats, red meats, and sausages.

Not all types of grains are good for people with Crohn’s disease. You should avoid grains rich in insoluble fiber [11] and gluten. These may worsen your symptoms. Grains to avoid include rye, whole wheat and its bread and pasta, and barley.

People with Crohn’s disease often also suffer from lactose intolerance [12]. While this does not affect everyone, it is a good idea to limit your consumption of dairy. Dairy foods to avoid include cream, margarine, butter, and full-fat dairy.
