Treatments for Crohn’s Disease

Surgery

Surgery is the recourse for people whose Crohn’s disease does not respond to other forms of treatment. As the source of this problem is not the gut itself, surgery will not cure the disease. However, it can be in closing fistulas and draining abscesses. Surgeons may remove damaged parts of the intestines and reconnect the healthy parts.

The CCFA estimates that around 75 percent [7] of people with Crohn’s disease will require surgery. The disease often recurs and most people need to continue to use medication post-surgery.

Conclusion

There is no cure for Crohn’s disease yet. While researchers are still trying to find one, the available treatments can help in managing the condition. If you experience symptoms of this disease, you should see a doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.
