Flu

Flu, just like a cold, is caused by a virus. It is an illness that affects the respiratory system and its symptoms can be more severe compared to those of a cold. Flu can result in complications that are very serious and children, older adults and people with either a weak immune system or a chronic medical situation, run a higher risk. One of the complications of the flu is a dry and sore throat.
Antiviral drugs [7] can help treat flu symptoms and reduce your sickness duration. It is however important to begin treatment with these drugs within 48hours of when your symptoms started. Over the counter medicines, throat lozenges, warm fluids and water, and getting a lot of rest, would also go a long way in treating your symptoms.
Strep Throat
This throat infection is caused by bacteria and this makes the throat very sore and dry. Other symptoms also include fever, body aches, swollen, heavy and red tonsils etc.
Doctors usually recommend treating strep throat with antibiotics which would attack and kill the bacteria. If you follow the doctor’s prescription properly, the symptoms should begin to ease after a few days.
