Atopic Dermatitis(Eczema) Symptoms

Children’s Phase or Pre-Pubertal Phase (3-12 Years Old)

Redness, swelling, and crusts appear on the skin. In this stage of Atopic dermatitis, the integrity of the skin is disrupted, the skin becomes thicker, and the skin pattern is more pronounced. Nodules, plaques, and erosion are formed. Cracks in the palms, fingers, and feet cause severe pain.

The morphology of the lesions is varied, with erythema, exudation, and vesiculation prevailing in the acute phases and, in the chronic phases, lichenification (thickening, darkening, and accentuation of the skin furrows). The lesions are located mainly in the flexural regions of the knees and elbows, neck, wrists, and ankles.

It is at this stage that most patients show significant improvement or total disappearance of the lesions. [4]
