Eczema vs. Hives: What Is the Difference?

Causes of Eczema and How to Treat

There is no main trigger for eczema as it can be caused by some things. The causes vary among people. They may include stress, weather condition, detergents, soaps and bleach, chemical and physical irritants, sweats, paints, respiratory infections, artificial fabrics and allergic reactions: allergens like pollen, dust and some foods can cause eczemas.

There are a lot of ways eczemas can be treated or even avoided. In some people, eczema disappears slowly after some time while in others it’s a long-lasting condition. Eczemas can be managed and treated in the following ways:

  • The use of moisturizers
  • Changes in diet
  • Use of mild soaps
  • Light therapy
  • Oral medications like corticosteroids [1]
  • Use of antibiotics if eczema comes with a bacterial skin infection
  • Avoid the use of rough and tight fabrics
  • Acupuncture [2]

You should visit your doctor about the prescription of drugs to be used and also to ask for more information about the treatment of the condition.
