Causes of Hives

The major cause of hives is allergy. Some of the things that cause the formation of hives may include:

  • Infections
  • Physical stimuli like heat and cold

Hives are one of the major symptoms of anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis [4] is a severe, life-threatening allergic response to certain allergens. They occur throughout the entire body and might lead to death if not treated immediately. Other symptoms of anaphylaxis include hypotension [5], tachycardia, shortness of breath, swollen throat etc.
