Essential Oils for Eczema Treatment

Borage Oil

Borage oil [2] contains a fatty acid that the body converts into a hormone-like substance with anti-inflammatory properties. A 2010 study [3] was done to confirm the use of borage oil as a supplement for eczema-prone skin problem.

There is still a mix of results. While some people claim to have seen improvements in skin inflammation, some don’t. More research is needed to determine the effectiveness of borage oil as a treatment for eczema.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil [4] is considered to have a lot of health benefits, such as the ability to calm nausea and relieve indigestion. There is also a claim that it can be applied topically to reduce itching.

Peppermint oil is highly concentrated. You should make sure to mix it with a carrier oil before use.

Use a few drops at first to avoid irritation. Peppermint oil can be harmful to inhale so you should never apply it to your face. You should also not use it on the chest of infants and young children.

More research is needed on the effect of peppermint oil on eczema. You should talk to your doctor before using it.
