Warm Compress

The tear is made up of mucus, water, and oil. All three components are necessary for healthy, moisturized eyes. Dry eyes may result from oil-producing glands around the edge of your lids becoming clogged by inflamed and crusty eyelids.
Wet a clean washcloth with warm water, rinse it out, and apply it over your closed eye for at least a minute to help reduce discomfort and remove blocked oils. To help release the congested oils, gently touch the edge of your eyelid with your finger. The moist heat aids in dislodging the glands’ blocked oils. To keep the fabric warm, wet it frequently. Even when your eyes start to feel better, you might need to apply warm compresses daily to reduce inflammation.
