Burning Foot Pain Causes

Infectious Disease

Aside from the common causes of burning feet, there are others. One of the major causes of this condition is syphilis, HIV, Lyme disease, and shingles. Please note that infectious diseases are not common causes of burning feet, but they may lead to them. For this reason, it’s crucial to speak to the doctor about getting tested if the individual has an infection and experiences burning pain in the feet.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

This condition occurs in a limb. In most cases, it occurs more after a surgical operation or an injury. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CPRS) involves nerve cells’ damage that affects the signaling from the spine and brain. Some symptoms of CPRS are swelling changes in skin color or texture, and burning pain. Please note that this condition may affect the immune system.

Erythromelalgia

This disease is relatively rare and involves painful, hot, and red feet, without a known cause. The severity of Erythromelalgia varies from one person to another. Besides, the pain may get worse after standing, walking, or direct exposure to heat. [4]
