6 Common Treatments for Influenza

Rest

Rest is important when you have the flu. Stay indoors [5] while recovering. This allows your immune system to fight the virus more effectively. Becoming actively too early has the risk of making the virus more virulent and you may inadvertently prolong your recovery. Besides helping yourself, limiting contact with other people while resting helps you not to spread the virus to others around you.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) [6] recommends that you remain at home for a minimum of 24 hours after your fever has gone. The only exceptions are if you need to get medication or other essentials. As long as you are generally healthy, you will not need to use drugs.
