Cataract Surgery

Surgery is another way to help reduce eye pressure, removal of the eye’s natural lens can cause a reduction in eye pressure. Compared to drops or laser, it is more invasive but can control eye pressure better and faster. However, this procedure is followed for individuals with narrow angles and high eye pressure. When an individual has narrow angles, it signifies that the cornea and iris are too close. Hence, the eye’s drainage becomes blocked if the angle is narrow to the level where the iris touches the cornea. Surgery cannot restore vision or cure glaucoma but helping slow down vision loss. The surgeon will choose the proper type of surgery depending on the specific type and severity of your eye condition.
Treating glaucoma goes beyond the different possible treatment procedures. It involves a combined effort between the individual and the doctor. In other words, doctors may prescribe eye drops, but it boils down to the patient with the condition. Depending on an individual’s treatment requirements, the doctor may request an appointment every three to six months.
