Glaucoma Drainage Devices

Glaucoma drainage devices [5] are created to redirect aqueous humor from the posterior to the anterior chamber. Besides, the devices are known to control intraocular pressure (IOP) in the eyes effectively. Usually, these devices are used for individuals who may have previously failed the trabeculectomy procedure.

Glaucoma drainage devices are available in various sizes, designs, and materials. There may be an IOP regulating valve present in some of the devices, and some don’t have that feature. Many surgeons may use valved devices over the other option because it doesn’t deal with manipulating the rectus muscles.
