Symptoms of gout
There are several symptoms associated with gout. You may notice the symptoms immediately. They include:
- Severe joint pain: Gout often affects the big toe, though it can happen in any joint. You may notice severe joint pain, especially between the first four to 12 hours after it starts.
- Discomfort that persists: Even when the intense pain subsides, gout often lingers in discomfort. This discomfort generally lasts from a few days to a few weeks.
