Tension Headache Symptoms and Treatments

Tension Headache

Do you have headaches that can last for several days, and feels like you are wearing a tight hat, hoop, or helmet?  It looks more like tension or pressure than real pain. This pain does not completely disturb, but significantly limits my activity during the day. Then you may have tension headaches.

Tension headache is the most common type [1] of headache. Tension headache is defined as pain or discomfort in any part of the head and is usually associated with muscle tightness in those areas. It is believed that over 20 percent of the population suffers from Tension headaches and women are more likely [2] to complain about their appearance than men. This type of headache can occur at any age, but it usually occurs in older adults and adolescents.

Pain attacks may occur intermittently (<15 days per month) or chronically (> 15 days). Episodic Tension headache is mild/moderate, persistent/intermittent, and can be felt like pressure. This pain [3] lasts from 30 minutes to several days. Episodic headaches, as a rule, begin gradually, more often in the middle of the day.
