9 Signs of Thrombocytopenia (Low Blood Platelets)

Fatigue

Thrombocytopenic patients often experience intense tiredness. This could be directly due to the low levels of platelets in the blood or it may be as a result of iron deficiency which is important in platelet production [3]. Fatigue is a common symptom in patients with immune thrombocytopenia, a condition that can be caused by a low number of platelets in the blood.

A 2017 study in the European Journal of Hematology [4] directly linked low platelet counts with feelings of intense tiredness in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia. Fatigue was linked to low platelet counts in both patients who had bleeding symptoms and those who did not.
