Symptoms and Signs of Herpes

Pain or itching

The first symptom of a herpes outbreak is likely to be an itching sensation in the infected part of the body. Pain and itching happen a day or two days before the sores start showing. Some people have outbreaks of itchy and painful blisters on the penis or around the opening of the vagina. Pain in the legs and buttocks are also signs of the infection.

Small red bumps or tiny white blisters

These may appear in few days or few weeks after infection. When an outbreak of genital herpes does occur, it usually presents as a patch of small red or white bumps. These bumps are very painful, the pus-filled blisters will eventually burst, leaving sores on the skin.
