Treatment for People with Syphilis and HIV

There is not much difference between the treatment of syphilis in HIV-positive individuals and HIV-negative individuals. The first treatment administered is a single injection of antibiotics penicillin. In the later stages, treatment will involve additional injections and intravenous (IV) antibiotics. Careful follow-up is necessary to check the effectiveness of the treatment and inspect the effect HIV is having on the person.
It is possible to have both syphilis and HIV. This is a very serious condition and would require proper treatment. After diagnosis and confirmation of your condition, your doctor will discuss your treatment options. Regular check-ups will be necessary to check for progress or otherwise.
