7 Signs You May Have Kidney Stones

Pain around the Sides of the Tummy, Lower Back or Groin Area

Pain from kidney stones can be devastating to the one who suffers it. People who have experienced it confirm that there are only a few conditions which are more painful. The pain usually begins as soon as the stone slides into the ureter. Sometimes it is a stabbing pain that you feel around your belly, or back, just below the ribs. The pain may begin to move to lower regions as time goes on, even reaching the groin area. This is due to the action of the ureter pushing the stone down and out of the urinary tract, exciting nerve fibers along its part. This excruciating pain is called renal colic. The severity of kidney stone pain isn’t necessarily determined by the size of the kidney stone, since some small stones may cause more severe pain than some large ones. [1]
