Five Stages of Kidney Failure

Stage 2

By the second stage, kidney function drops to 60 to 89 percent [5] (GFR > 90 mL/min). You may still show no symptoms, or you may experience nonspecific symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, weakness, itching, or sleep problems. Even at this stage, most people will not know they have chronic kidney disease because the kidneys still appear to function normally.

If you discover it at this stage, you should maintain a healthy diet and keep your blood pressure stable at a healthy level. Exercise regularly and frequently check in with your doctor. It is important to treat the underlying causes first (diabetes and high blood pressure are the most common).
