Preventing from Nocturnal Leg Cramps

You can prevent leg cramps while you sleep by following these tips:
- Drink a lot of water: Muscles can operate normally thanks to fluids. Depending on the weather, your age, your level of exercise, and the medications you’re taking, you might need to modify the amount of fluid you consume.
- Stretch your legs: Before going to sleep, stretch your hamstrings and calves to lessen the frequency and intensity of nighttime leg cramps.
- Ride a stationary bike: Before you go to sleep, try pedaling slowly for a few minutes to relax your legs.
- Alter the position in which you sleep: Avoid lying in a position where your feet are pointed down as you sleep. Put a pillow under your knees and try sleeping on your back.
- Avoid heavy or tucked-in bed: Heavy or tucked-in bedding could push your feet downward while you sleep. Go for loose, untucked sheets, and a comforter that will allow you keep your feet and toes upright while you sleep.
- Wear supportive footwear: Poor footwear can aggravate issues with the nerve and muscles in your feet and legs, especially if you have flat feet.
