After Bone Marrow Aspiration

After the test is done you may feel pain for a week. This pain can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers. You must take proper care of the needle insertion area. The wound must be dry for 24 hours after the procedure and do whatever your doctor says to treat the wound. While treating the wound, your bone marrow sample will be taken to a laboratory for testing. Your doctor will confirm test results with you during a follow-up visitation.
Bone marrow biopsy is usually done in 60 minutes. There are two kinds of bone marrow are red and yellow. Red marrow is commonly seen in flat bones which include hips and vertebrae. Most of your marrows become yellow as you grow older because of an increase in fat cells.
