Risks of Bone Marrow Biopsy

The complications associated with bone marrow biopsy are very rare. A study was done by the British society of hematology showed that less than 1 percent of bone marrow tests caused severe conditions. The popular risks of this test are hemorrhage [6] or excessive bleeding.

Other common risks are infection, consistent pain on the site of biopsy and allergic reaction to anesthesia. You should talk to your doctor about any health condition before doing the test. You should also let your doctor about any medication especially of it makes you bleed more.
