Trouble Falling or Staying Asleep

One of the most common symptoms of anxiety disorders is the sleep disturbances that individuals may experience. Some individuals may observe that they wake up in the middle of the night or have severe issues falling asleep.
According to some studies, it can be observed that having insomnia during childhood may be linked to developing anxiety over time. From the research that involved 1,000 children above 20 years, it was evident that having insomnia in their youth was connected with a 60% higher risk of developing anxiety disorders at 26 years.
Note that anxiety is strongly related to insomnia, but it remains unclear whether anxiety is a result of insomnia or insomnia is a result of anxiety or both possibilities. However, insomnia improves when an underlying anxiety disorder is treated.
