Flaunting Rules or Social Conventions
Flaunting rules or social conventions is a disruptive sign of narcissism. It refers to a desire to flaunt traditions to rules, sometimes with severe consequences. If you are a narcissist, you may find yourself looking for special treatment. You may also feel offended when you are unable to circumvent the system. According to Psychology Today, examples of these narcissistic characteristics include:
- Violating traffic laws
- Stealing supplies at work
- Getting in front of people in lines
In other words, the rules exist for other people, not the narcissist. The narcissist is special. He or she sidesteps the rules because of the special status afforded to him or her.
