Personality

Personality traits are the attributes about a person that make them who they are. While these traits may change a bit as a person grows older, they usually remain relatively stable throughout life. Some people are at more risk of depression because of their personality. People with low self esteem, who tend to worry a lot, are highly critical of themselves, sensitive to criticism, or have a negative worldview are more likely to suffer from depression.
Research has shown that there is indeed a link between personality traits and depression. [12] It is not clear yet whether these traits should be considered predispositions or as precursors. This study suggests that there are temperamental factors present at an early age that may help identify people at risk.
