Other Medical Conditions

A chronic illness is a medical condition that persists for a very long time. Usually, this kind of illness can only be managed and complete recovery is impossible. Depression is often listed as a possible complication of many chronic illness. About one-third of people who have serious medical conditions have symptoms of depression. [13]
Depression also further complicates many other mental health problems such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that normally starts in childhood. [14] The symptoms are variable, often affecting a child’s relationships and success at school. People who have anxiety disorders are also more likely to suffer from depression as a result of their problem. [15]
