Different Types and Symptoms of Mesothelioma

Chest Pain and Cough

Chest pain [4] is arguably the most common symptom in people with pleural mesothelioma. The malignant tumors in the pleura can cause generalized chest pain that can be hard to place. Since many conditions cause chest pain, a lot of people mistake the pain for something else.

People with pleural mesothelioma may present with cough. This cough is usually dry, persistent, and painful. Sometimes the cough degenerates into wheezing. This is possible due to irritation of the lungs by the tumors present in their lining. Advanced stages of mesothelioma may cause hemoptysis (coughing of blood from the respiratory tract).
