What Causes a Migraine?

Central Nervous Disorder

People whose nervous system is more sensitive than that of other people, are at higher risks to get migraines. Their nerve cells in the brain are easily stimulated, producing electrical activity. The various functions such as vision, sensation, balance, and speech would be temporarily disturbed when electrical activity spreads over the brain. And these disturbances cause the aura before headache which is called aura migraine. Then, the headache happens when the trigeminal nerve is stimulated, this nerve sends impulses (including pain impulses) from the eyes, scalp, forehead, upper eyelids, mouth, and jaw to the brain. These neurological disorders may cause the inflammation of blood vessels leading to the brain, which may trigger hemicrania. The inflammation in the brain is responsible for the throbbing at a corner, increased light sensitivity, feelings of nausea, and vomiting. Trauma and tumors in the brain may also trigger hemicrania.
