First Aid for Toothache Relief

Hydrogen peroxide rinse

A hydrogen peroxide [1] rinse is a common way to relieve pain and inflammation. It also helps kill bacteria, reduce plaque and heal bleeding gums.

To apply, ensure you properly dilute the hydrogen peroxide. Mix 3 percent hydrogen peroxide with equal parts of water, and use it as a mouthwash. Do not swallow it.

Peppermint tea bags

Peppermint tea bags can be used to numb pain and soothe sensitive gums. Allow a used tea bag to cool down a little before applying it to the affected area. It should still be slightly warm.

This method can also be used to cool the area. For this, put the used tea bag in the freezer for a couple of minutes for it to get chill, and then apply the bag to your tooth.
