First Aid for Toothache Relief

Saltwater rinse

Saltwater is very common and is proven to be effective as a first-line treatment. Salt water is a natural disinfectant and it can help loosen food particles and debris that may be stuck between your teeth. Saltwater as a treatment for toothache can also help reduce other symptoms such as inflammation and oral wounds.

To use this remedy, mix half a teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water and use it as a mouthwash.

Cold compress

Cold compress is also a common method used to relieve any pain you are experiencing, especially if any type of trauma has caused your toothache. Applying a cold compress to the affected area causes the blood vessels in the area to constrict. This helps relieve the pain. The cold can also reduce inflammation and swelling.

To use this remedy, hold a towel-wrapped bag of ice to the affected area for 20 minutes at a time. You can repeat this every few hours.
