Gum Infection – Treatment Options and Prevention

Root Planning

Root planning as it is also called, is a form of cleaning of the teeth and mouth that gets rid of bacteria which cause infection in the gum. Root planning clears out subgingival bacteria and also attempts to smoothen rough surfaces. [5]

This procedure should not be done by anyone that isn’t licensed to do so. A procedure gone wrong can permanently damage the teeth.

Green Tea

Green contains antioxidants that do a lot of good to the gum. [6] They contain minerals, Vitamin A-D, zinc, calcium, potassium among others. These nutrients are very beneficial to the teeth and mouth in general. Calcium strengthens the teeth and gum, while vitamins makes the healing process go faster and better. However, consume green tea in moderation. Taking too much, could have adverse effects on the teeth.
