Home Remedies for Abscess Tooth

Baking Soda

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) has a wide use in baking and you may find it in your kitchen. But in fact it has many benefits and can be used in other ways, such as treating heartburn, relieving canker sores, whitening teeth, deodorant and more.

Baking soda and water form a paste that can be applied on the infected tooth to draw out the pus and reduce pain. It is effective to remove plaque in the mouth and contains acids that help eliminate the bacteria causing the abscess. Asides from the paste, you can mix baking soda with warm water and swish around the mouth to draw out toxins.

Besides benefits, there are something you should know if you want to use baking soda. First, using in your teeth for long term may lead to tooth enamel erosion. With high sodium content, consuming too much baking soda may also cause diarrhea, vomiting and even seizure or kidney failure. You’d better consult your doctor if you have high blood pressure.
