Physical Strain
Stressing the calf muscles, not stretching enough, and excessive use of your muscles can cause muscle cramps. These conditions account for an overuse of the muscles as well as distressing the muscles in one way or the other. Care must be exercised by athletes and other people in how they deploy the use of their muscles. Straining the muscles with excessive exercise or a strenuous activity can result in a muscle cramp.
Aging
Aging can also account for muscle cramp. As we get older the muscle wears and tears as a result of extended period of use and reusing. Also with aging comes a significant loss of muscle mass which can make you more susceptible to muscle cramps. The slightest strenuous activity in your muscles can result in muscle cramps in aged people.
