Difference between parkinson’s disease and parkinsonism
There are significant differences between these two health conditions and they are:
- Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease while parkinsonism is not progressive
- Parkinson’s disease is caused by dysfunction of the brain cells that produce dopamine while Parkinsonism is caused majorly by brain strokes or brain attacks.
- Parkinson’s disease can be treated by the use of dopamine while Parkinsonism does not fully respond to dopamine.
- Lastly, Parkinson’s disease affects the general movement of the body while Parkinsonism affects mostly the lower parts of the body.
