Pain Relievers and Warm Towels

Doctors usually prescribe muscle relaxant drugs and pain relievers to treat symptoms of fever, headache, neck, and muscle pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Acetaminophen, Diclofenac, and Ibuprofen are more effective for treating pains caused by polio. However, it is important to note that aspirin can lead to severe health conditions, such as Reye’s syndrome if it is used to treat children with polio. Reye’s syndrome may worsen to cause severe liver destruction. Opioids such as Morphine may result in breathing difficulties and as a result respiratory failure, so they are not prescribed for treating polio.
You can use heating pads and warm towels to treat stiffness, spasm, and pain in the muscles. This will help reduce pain and aid healing.
