Is Cracking Shoulder Normal?

Scapulothoracic Bursitis

Bursa is a small, slippery, and fluid-filled sac that the tendons, ligaments, muscles, and skin must rely on to be able to glide over bones when people move joints. It helps reduce friction between bones and soft tissues by functioning like a cushion. However, when these bursas get irritated and inflamed, bursitis happens. Scapulothoracic bursitis refers to bursitis appearing underneath the scapular in the back of the shoulder. The condition is also known as snapping scapula syndrome because patients always notice a clicking of the scapula during movements of the scapulothoracic joint. Besides, patients also feel shoulder pain when they lift their arms overhead or shrug their shoulders. [3]
