Shoulder Labrum Tears: Diagnosis and Treatment

Arthroscopy of the Shoulder for Labral Tears

Your surgeon will make a little incision in your shoulder to repair your torn labrum. Through the use of a tiny camera fixed to a thin tube known as an arthroscope, the surgeon will be able to see the glenoid injury. The surgeon will either attempt to reconnect the labrum to the rim of the joint socket or remove or trim any frayed sections of the labrum.

Techniques for minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery enable better results, less pain, and faster recovery periods.

If left untreated, shoulder labrum tear symptoms may worsen, causing chronic shoulder pain and decreasing your ability to use your arm and shoulder. Recovery can take up to six months or a year.
