8 Remedies for Post Nasal Drip

Drinking Hot Fluids

Consuming plenty of fluids can thin out mucus. When mucus becomes thin, it becomes easier for it to go through your nasal passage/cavities. Also, by taking hot fluids, your nasal lining will be moisturized. Some good options are hot drinks such as tea or broth.

Stay away from caffeinated drinks like soda, coffee and caffeinated tea. Caffeine increases the chances of dehydration.

Stay away from Smoking and Alcohol

Alcohol causes dehydration and can make post nasal drip worse. It is therefore important in treating this condition, to stay away from every form of alcohol. Alcohol can also worsen your symptoms if your post nasal drip is because of GERD [5]. Cigarettes on the other hand, can double the mucus being secreted and cause irritation in your throat and mouth. Although quitting might be hard, a doctor and a therapist may be able to build a plan that would assist you in staying away from it.
