Breathing Exercises

Sleep apnea is when the muscles of the throat improperly expand and block airflow. Breathing exercises to strengthen those muscles may help keep them in correct positions during sleep, which keeps the airways open. Breathing exercises such as inhaling and exhaling slowly while alternating between the two nostrils for up to twenty minutes can improve your breathing. It may also alleviate symptoms of the condition including snoring or insomnia.
