Pain on swallowing
Strep throat causes often constant pain in the throat. This pain in the throat is worsened when patients chew, swallow, talk, or move the mouth in general. Due to this, patients find it difficult to eat and they usually have a poor appetite for food. This back throat pain starts immediately and it doesn’t magnify in intensity over time like other causes of sore throat.
Inflamed tonsils usually with streaks of white
Strep throat is characterized by reddish and swollen tonsils. The tonsils enlarge to very big sizes. Apart from the tonsils that are red and swollen, you can also see some light red spots at the back of your throat. These spots can be itchy and tender. The enlarged tonsils can also be seen with white curd-like patches on their surface. These patches can also be noticed in other areas of the throat.
