Drenching night sweats

Night sweats are seen predominantly in Tuberculosis. It is often severe that it causes the pillow, clothe, and sometimes, the bed to be drenched. The physician always requests this history anytime a diagnosis of tuberculosis is suspected.

Unexplained weight loss

In arriving at the diagnosis of tuberculosis, the physician asks about the history of weight loss. Weight loss is usually gradual and becomes noticeable over time. When patients report a history of weight loss, their claims should be backed by evidence. This can be noticed from unfitting clothes, from measurement through a scale, or from word of mouth by relatives or friends.

Weakness

Patients complain of weakness when this disease is present. They feel tired very easily when they perform simple tasks. Tuberculosis causes a general malaise of the body that can be translated into weakness of the body. Patients also have a poor appetite for food. They do not eat as much as they ought to due to their condition. This also contributes to the weight loss seen in this condition.

Fever

Tuberculosis presents with fever in patients suffering from this disease. The fever is low grade and usually occurs at certain hours of the day. It comes typically in the evenings or the late hours of the afternoon. Therefore some patients may not experience any symptom of fever at all. With antibiotic treatment, fever often subsides within a few weeks.
