Miscarriage – Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Symptoms and Signs

One of the most common symptoms of miscarriage is vaginal bleeding. This bleeding might be really heavy and clotting of blood might occur along with the bleeding. Along with the bleeding comes abdominal pain and a little cramping. This pain may be felt in the low back, buttocks, or pelvic region. Below are some of the pain experienced as a result of miscarriage:

Abdominal Cramping

When abdominal cramping [5] occurs with miscarriage, it is usually a result of the contraction of the uterus. During your periods, there is a contraction in the uterus which then allows for the discharge of contents out of your vaginal. The same happens during miscarriage, as the uterus consists mainly of body muscles, making miscarriage quite painful.

These cramps are mostly felt on both sides of the lower abdomen. The occurrence of abdominal cramping may come and go or might just be consistent, varying from different patients.

Back pain

The same way that period cramps result in back pain, the uterine contraction that occurs during a miscarriage can also cause you to experience serious back pain. The pain can come in various degrees of severity; it can be mild, moderate, or severe.
