Different phases of the menstrual cycle

There are three phases to a menstrual cycle, which lasts an average of 23 to 38 days.
The follicular stage
The first day of your period marks the start of the follicular phase, which is marked by the lowest levels of female hormones all month. This is the time when a woman’s body is most comparable to a man’s since sex hormones are at their lowest levels.
The follicular phase lasts 12–14 days and extends for another 5–6 days after the last day of your period. After your period, estrogen levels progressively rise, causing you to release follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones and mid-cycle ovulation.
Ovulation
It is during ovulation that the body releases an egg, and if sperm are present, this is the ideal time for implantation and conception to take place. Ovulation takes place right about the midway of a 28-day cycle, frequently around the 14th day.
