The 90/90 Stretch; Benefits, Tips and How-To

What to Do If the 90/90 Stretch Does Not Feel Right

Sometimes you might not feel the stretch in your hip joint or you are finding it difficult to straighten your upper body. If you feel this way or you feel like you are not getting it right, there are some ways you can help yourself.

If you find it difficult to straighten your shoulders and your upper body, you can roll a towel or use a yoga block and place it under the hip of the leg that is stretched forward. This can help you straighten your upper body.

If you do not feel the stretch in your hip joint, try and change the positions of your legs. When changing the position of your legs, ensure that your knees are flexed at 90 degrees and your ankles stay in a neutral position.

If you feel any pain during stretching, you should stop the exercise so that you do not injure yourself. You can also talk to a physiotherapist and request an alternative exercise if the 90/90 stretch feels difficult for you to do.
