Onions and Garlic

Fresh onions and garlic should never be left in the fridge, as it will only make them spoil. This is because the cold from a fridge will sap the moisture and tamper with both the textures and flavors. Instead, it is best to keep them in a cool, dark spot that is properly ventilated in order for them not to get moldy. The best option would be a pantry. Although, when you slice the onion or garlic, you should store it in an airtight container in the fridge to prevent mold from forming too quickly.
If you are using jarred alternatives, like cocktail onions [4] or minced garlic, it’s best to store them as indicated on the label. Not all but most will note to refrigerate after opening, since some combos of preservatives such as salt and vinegar can help keep these ingredients fresh sans refrigeration.
