12 Incredible Health Benefits of Lemons

Immunity boost

No studies have been done to prove that lemons alone boost immunity and aid in embryonic development, but several of the top nutrients in lemons have been shown to do so. The amount of vitamin C in a half cup (109 grams) of lemon water (without the peel) is 58.2 mg. Both the mother and the child will benefit from this.

According to a 2012 animal study, even a minor vitamin C deficiency in the mother could impair the development of the fetus’s brain, notably the hippocampus, which is responsible for memory. Safe vitamin C dosages (no megadoses!) may potentially boost immunity and help prevent common illnesses like the flu and the common cold, although this has not been shown in pregnant women.

Due to the high concentrations of eriocitrin and hesperetin, two flavonoids found in lemons, this immune growth may be boosted.
