What is the Cost of Medicare for Children?

The cost of Medicare for children and adults is the same. That is, the costs of copayments, deductibles, and premiums are the same for adults and children. Other costs to pay include:

  • the monthly premium for any Medigap plan you buy
  • prescription medications copayments [6] stated in your Part D plan
  • Part A deductible: $1,484 per benefit period
  • standard Part B premium: $148.50
  • the monthly premium for any Medicare Advantage plan you purchase
  • Part B deductible: $203 for the year
  • Part B coinsurance: 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for all covered services
  • the monthly premium for any Part D plan you purchase
  • Part A coinsurance for any hospital or other inpatient stays over 60 days

Parents with insufficient funds can qualify for Medicare help if their child is eligible for coverage. Medicare has Seven plans to help decrease or remove any costs.
