COBRA and Medicare Coordination

Cobra vs. Medicare: What is the Difference?

With Medicare, you don’t need to rely on traditional insurance plans. You can access it in parts. For example, Parts A and B are referred to as the original Medicare. All Medicare Parts pay for a special service. They include:

  • Medicare Part A (hospital insurance): If you are ever admitted to the hospital, you can use Medicare Part A to cover the costs. This part also pays for professional nursing facilities and other inpatient care services.
  • Medicare Part B (medical insurance): With Medicare Part B, you can pay for ambulance rides, therapies, clinical equipment, and more health services.
  • Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage): Part C offers the same services as parts A and B. However, it adds extra coverage like vision, hearing, dental, and in some cases, drugs.
  • Medicare Part D (drug coverage): Part D pays for prescription drugs. Part D plans are usually combined with a Part C plan or original Medicare.
